  • , based in Chicago, has announced that one of its subsidiaries has acquired ., an automotive recycling company headquartered in Quebec. LKQ provides aftermarket and recycled collision replacement parts and refurbished collision replacement products.

    LKQ operates more than 430 facilities, including facilities in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico and Central America.

    Lecavalier has four recycling facilities in Quebec. The company’s main facility is located in Ste. Sophie, Quebec. The facilities process salvage vehicles to provide replacement automotive parts to mechanical repair facilities, body repair facilities, and direct consumers.

    According to a news release, Lecavalier Auto Parts will continue to be managed by Roger and Philippe Fugère, its former owners. "It's an opportunity for our business and employees to grow in a market that is being highly consolidated. For our customers, they will have more availability of products and services in one call."

  • Lecavalier Auto Parts was recently the proud recipient of Quebec’s Phénix de l'Environnement award, which is the highest level of recognition in the province for environmental initiatives and sustainable practices. They were awarded this recognition for their Industrial Visit program, which facilitates educational site visits for students and repair industry professionals to teach them about the environmental benefits of using recycled auto parts.

    Founded in 1942, Lecavalier Auto Parts currently has five locations and 190 employees. Lecavalier first registered for Switch Out in 2007 and has always maintained an active presence in the program. Since registering, Lecavalier Auto Parts has collected over 500 mercury switches for the Switch Out program, ensuring that this hazardous substance doesn’t pollute the environment or endanger people’s health.

Lecavalier Auto Parts is Canada's leader in supplying recycled automotive original equipment for all makes of domestic and foreign vehicles. The company was founded in 1942 by Fernand Lecavalier and was acquired by Roger Fugère Sr and his brothers in 1965. In 1982, Roger Fugère Jr joined the business, followed a year and a half later by his brother Philippe. Lecavalier acquired the Centre de recyclage St-Jean in November 1999. Ford bought Lecavalier in November 2001. Lecavalier's four facilities process approximately 15,000 vehicles a year to provide professionally cleaned and thoroughly tested parts to body shops, garages, dealerships, and insurance companies including AXA, Desjardins (Certas), ING, Wawanesa, Cooperators and Allianz, and individual consumers.
