  • During normal vehicle operation, emissions are produced. While some of these emissions are harmless like water, heat, and oxygen, harmful byproducts—hydrocarbons (HCs), carbon monoxide (CO), and nitrogen oxide (NOx)—are also produced. One way the system reduces these harmful byproducts is by making the engine run more efficiently. The emissions system also recycles emissions back through the combustion process or converts them into harmless gases.

  • It's not practical to load the wiring diagrams here for reference, but here is the Emission Control System diagram from the Owner's Handbook that is referred to in column F.

Federal law requires that the emission control systems on 1995 and later model year vehicles be warranted for 2 years or 24,000 miles. Many automakers provide extended warranty coverage beyond what is currently required by federal law. Federal law also requires that the on-board computer and the catalytic converter on 1995 and later model year vehicles be warranted for 8 years or 80,000 miles.

Vapor emission system is intended for analyzing the waste vapor gas for oxygen gas content. The system also include the pressure transmitter which can monitor the pressure on the waste vapor line. This system consist of two cabinet ; a detector cabinet in which the pressure transmitter, oxygen sensor, flow alarm sensor, sample selector valve and purge valve are included, and the monitoring & alarm panel on which the alarm unit , oxygen indicator are provided. The detector panel in steel is installed on deck nearby the vapor manifolds and the monitoring & alarm panel is mounted in the cargo control room.
    Product Feature

Intrinsically safe detecting is applicable to all of inflammable fluids all stainless steel material pressure sensor Individual adjustable alarm for oxygen and pressure Most advanced electronic technology for high reliability and durability.
These system is used for control the oxygen and pressure in the manifold..

Early diagnosis followed by timely repair can often prevent more costly repairs on both emission control systems and other vehicle systems that may affect vehicle performance such as fuel economy. For example, a poorly performing spark plug can cause the engine to misfire, a condition sometimes unnoticed by the driver. This engine misfire can, in turn, quickly degrade the performance of the catalytic converter. With OBD detection of the engine misfire, the driver would be faced with a relatively inexpensive spark plug repair. However, without OBD detection, the driver could be faced with an expensive catalytic converter repair in addition to the spark plug repair.

Federal law requires that the emissions control systems on 1996 and newer vehicles be warranted for two years or 24,000 miles (which ever comes first). Many auto manufacturers provide extended coverage as well. Federal law also requires that the on-board computer and the catalytic converter on 1996 and newer vehicles be covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles. Consult your vehicle owners manual or warranty for coverage.
